It’s hard to fathom that the Mico and the Mi are not from the same manufacturer—they look incredibly similar. SMOK’s version is a bit wider, though, and they’ve taken a lot of liberties to make the design flashy.
Still, the SMOK Mico will certainly dredge up memories of the Mi even though it is the significantly better pod. This review of the SMOK Mico pod kit explores what SMOK have done differently, and why the Mico is one of the best entry-level pods out there.

Build Quality & Design
The pod keeps everything together using powerful magnets. Accessing the pod is easy thanks to this, and once you’re done, the pod compartment fits back to the atomizer with a satisfying click.
Everything about the pod’s physical appearance is decent, if not downright impressive. There’s a lot to love about its design too.
Its small form factor and curved corners give it great ergonomics, which makes it easy to handle and pocket. The finish is glossy on both the multicolored variants and the exclusive monochrome options.
There are small windows on each side of the resin panels that allow you to see juice levels without cracking to open the pod.
If you’ve used the Mi, then you remember how difficult it was to get to the pods. That’s not the case with the Mico thanks to its magnetic design.
Speaking of pods, the Mico comes with two, one of which has a mesh coil, and the other with a regular coil. It’s incredible that a pod at this price range supports sub-ohm atomizers (has a minimum resistance of 0.6ohm).
The device also features an LED light that indicates battery level as well as device status. When you turn it on using the on/off slider switch, it flashes white. When the battery’s 70% or above, it flashes green. When it’s between 30% and 70%, it flashes orange, and when the battery is less than 30%, it flashes red.
Features
Like the Mi, the Mico has a lanyard attachment hook that lets you carry it around your neck or wrist. Another interesting feature is its 8-second cut-off, which automatically turns off the device if it is not used in 8 seconds.
Apart from that, there’s an on/off slider switch as well as the LED light, which indicates battery level as well as the device’s status
It’s nice to see safety features like low voltage and short circuit protection included in this device.
Pods

The pods are filled from the side via a rubber grommet that’s pretty common in pods like this. Filling them up is easy enough, and for the first time, you’ll need to let them sit for about 10 minutes for maximum saturation.
In case the two coils it comes with are not enough for you, you can also get a 1.4ohm ceramic coil, though you’ll have to buy it separately.
Performance
One thing worth mentioning is that the coils don’t fair so well with high-nicotine juices. Try to keep it at 3mg or less, because otherwise, you’ll be drawing some pretty harsh hits.
There’s also a considerable problem when it comes to airflow control. Many reviews insist that the device’s biggest weakness is that its draw-activation mechanism is not sensitive enough. You have to suck on it hard.
The MTL draw experience could use some improvements too. It’s almost as if they wanted it to be a DTL pod, but changed their minds at the last second. Expect to have a very loose MTL vaping experience, and quite an uncomfortable draw each time you want to take a hit.
